Readers sent these e-mails praising El Segundo police Officer Scott O'Connor and Lt. Raymond Garcia:

Gene Kusion writes:

“(Jonathan) Taylor got what he deserved. He was a convicted felon who brought a loaded weapon into a theater. That in itself is criminal. The police officers are heroes.”

Gary Hansen writes:

“Fifteen rounds in the suspect from a prone position with two rounds in each officer in a crowded lobby and only one bystander hit, DAMN.

These guys are real HEROES not to mention their marksmanship. How many lives did they save by their actions.

I want these guys in my city!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I personally believe that our society gives too much credit to the criminals and not enough credit to the police. If this truly was just a misunderstanding about a movie ticket refund, there was no need for Johnathan Taylor to pull a 35mm gun out and shoot two police officers. Also, a normal, law-abiding citizen does not run from police officers when asked to stop. If I was at a movie theater with a mass of people around, a gun was pulled on me and I had the ability to return fire, I too, would have shot until the threat was gone. It is kill or be killed in that situation. I wish a speedy recovery to the officers who fought galiantly and preserved the safety of the innocent people that were put in harm's way for the price of a "movie ticket." They deserve to be praised, not criticized. Think about it.

Yea Jonathan Taylor was stupid for what he did and i dont blame the officers for killing him but what i want to know is how are the officers heroes?? its not like he was shooting up the people in the movie theater or holding hostages but he was shooting at the officers not anyone else... I give it to the officers for not letting him get away

Yeah, he was only shooting at the police and no one else. Thank god no innocent bystander got shot too...oh, wait, one did. They are heros because they stopped an attempted murderer who shot them from fleeing into a crown of people. If he would shoud a cop I think its reasonable to assume he would shoot anyone who happened to get in his way. Who knows who he would have shot next. They are heros. While everyone ran away from this thug shooting his gun, they ran towards it. What is your definition of hero?
