LOS ANGELES - A shooting involving an off-duty Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy left a man wounded today and prompted the closure of the eastbound Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway near South Los Angeles, officials said.

Paramedics were sent to the 105 Freeway a half mile west of Vermont Avenue about 8 a.m. on a report of a shooting, said Inspector Darryl Jacobs of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

A man in his 20s was shot and wounded, and paramedics took him to a hospital in stable condition, Jacobs said.

The shooting in an unincorporated county area involved an off-duty Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy, said Deputy Oscar Butao of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau. The deputy was unhurt, Butao said.

The eastbound freeway was closed at Crenshaw Boulevard about 8:35 a.m. while an investigation was conducted, according to the California Highway Patrol.
