An English pet owner who was caught on closed-circuit television leaving her dog's doings on a neighbor's driveway is facing up to 1,000 pounds in fines (that's nearly $2,000 U.S. dollars). The best part about this article from the Sunderland Echo (which includes the video) is how polite the writer is, even while discussing poop. The dog was seen "fouling the pavement" and her "pooch soiled the ground." Not a mention of poop, turd, feces or even crap. The British are so proper.

Larry Altman has covered crime in the South Bay since 1990. He's seen it all - the missing model who turned up dead in the desert, the wives found dead in trunks, the high-school coaches who get a little too close to their players. He drives his young colleagues nuts with his "I remember when" stories. He welcomes your tips and observations about the present, and you can mix in a little Lakers basketball talk if you like.
