Quirino Antonio Mateo, a Lomita man who drove drunk and caused a crash in Carson that killed Juan Gabriel Ontiveros, a 32-year-old father of four, was sentenced today to five years in state prison as part of a plea deal he reached for the Jan. 8 collision.

Ontiveros' family, including his widow and mother, cried in Compton Court as they told a judge how Mateo, 31, ruined their lives. His wife, Juanita Ontiveros, told Judge Gary Daigh she wants justice. But outside of court, she said she wasn't seeing it in the plea deal.

"I think it's really unfair because he should be getting more years because my husband's not coming back in five years," she said.

A full story on the sentencing hearing will be in tomorrow's Daily Breeze and on www.dailybreeze.com.
