Officers will conduct a driver's license checkpoint from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday in the southbound lanes of Vermont Avenue at 170th Street in Gardena.
Violators without valid licenses will be cited and their cars will be towed.
(Oh, and if you are drunk, they'll get you for that too.)

What type of public service is this by warning offenders that they will be cited?
With so may illegal drivers on our roads all you are doing is giving them a free get out of jail card.
Great job you idiot
William,
Get a grip and a clue. We live in an open and free society in which the transparency of government is essential to maintaining liberty.
Are illegal drivers a problem? You bet! Should the be here? Heck no! However, I would propose more draconian measures to combat this problem. How about minefields and machine gun nests on the border? Or is that too extreme for you?
As an American citizen I find it appalling to have to "show my papers" as if it were Berlin in 1939. But considering this practice seems to be legally supported by the courts, I dare say the LEAST we can do is keep informed as a society of what our authorities are up to. By the way, what percentage of illegal alien drivers do you think:
A) Can read English?
B) Have regular internet access?
C) Would read the Larry Altman Crime Blog after a long day of scrubbing urinals and trimming your rose bushes?
Yeah that's what I thought...idiot.
William, do you think that many people actually read the Breeze? LOL. You are clueless son.
If you don't have a life like me...or just really bored, go post up across the street from this checkpoint and watch people get busted. It's awesome. Few months ago there was a sobriety checkpoint on Redondo Beach in between Normandie and Western and I saw so many fools get busted for DUI...it was great watching them flip out.
The best was trying to pick out the cars that were going to get busted...I made a big 4 dollars always picking the cars with shiny rims.
