Lawndale shooting
A man using the payphone outside a liquor store at 162nd Street and Hawthorne Boulevard last night was shot twice, but sheriff deputies said today he is recuperating in a hospital and expected to survive.
No motive or suspects are established yet and the investigation is ongoing, according to the Sheriff's Department. The suspect sped off in a car southbound on Hawthorne Boulevard, and disappeared.
