What's with all the perversion going on around here?

With my morning cup o' Joe, I was doing my routine scan of the Daily Breeze and was struck by the oh-so-high number of sex-related crimes we had to report on this morning. I do this for a living, and even I'm a bit flabergasted!

First, there's the principal held in a porn bust, then there's the suspect held for two Torrance sex assaults, a different Torrance man facing child porn charges for sexually explicit images of babies and a teacher found having sex with a student in a Carson parking lot.

You add all that with other stories in the last few days, like the judge from RPV who had sexual photos on his Web site, the San Pedro physician charged with sexual battery and the flower store manager who paid boys to take pictures of themselves ... and don't you just feel like you need to take a long shower?

In all honesty, Larry, I think its time for you to come clean with your predilection for German-midget-scat porn. Your readers have a right to know.

Seriously, as a concerned public we need to relegate these twisted sexual deviants to their traditional place in society: the halls of Congress.

But perhaps I'm taking too much of a wide stance on the issue.

I don't know if there are necessarily more of these crimes being committed, just more coverage. Hopefully the daily breeze will continue to publish and follow these cases, so the public will see how much prison time these excuses for human beings get. Most sexual assaults are committed by family friends and acquaintances, not strangers, so keep an eye on your children and most importantly, don't be afraid to educate them on these types of crimes. You can ask your local police department for advice on how to talk to your children without being too graphic.
