Here's some stuff from Redondo Beach's Recent Law Enforcement Events report issued today:

Monday 06/30
08:45 - RBPD Patrol responded to a report of a burglary-in-progress in the 1700 block of Marshallfield Ln. Investigation revealed that the ex-girlfriend of the victim resident had made entry via a window and took several items she claimed belonged to her, and then fled the scene. The victim's wife was at home and called the police. Officers observed the ex-girlfriend leaving the area in her vehicle and detained her. She was subsequently booked at RBPD for burglary.

13:36 - A 25 year old suspect was at his 71 year old grandmother's residence in the 2300 block of 190th. Suspect demanded her ATM card and when she refused to give it to him, he struck her with his fist, knocking her unconscious, to the ground. Suspect fled but was located by RBPD Patrol at Lilienthal Parkette. He was arrested and booked for assault and Elder Abuse.
Wednesday 07/02
15:11 - Patrol responded to an injury accident with a roll-over vehicle. When the first unit arrived, the officer observed the driver of one of the vehicles run down a driveway, the driver being only partially clothed. The driver was detained, then taken to HGH for a head injury apparently suffered in the collision. The other driver also suffered injuries.

Based on a preliminary investigation, it appears that the first driver was under the influence of alchohol. An investigation is on-going.

Friday 07/04
In accordance with normal 4th of July operational planning, a significant deployment of RBPD personnel was implemented, for traffic control and crowd management purposes. No significant events occurred anywhere in the city related to the holiday weekend.

Saturday 07/05
02:44 - Northrop Grumman security observed two suspicious men in the 2400 block of Santa Fe Avenue. Northrop security notified RBPD but suspects fled in a vehicle prior to police arrival. Northrop security followed the suspect vehicle briefly until RBPD arrival. Officers conducted a felony traffic stop on the suspect vehicle. Arrested were James Rhodes, a 47 year old resident of Lennox, and Anthony Hart, a 43 year old resident of Lawndale. Further investigation revealed that the suspects had attempted to enter a fenced-in area to steal valuable metal. Suspects were booked for attempt grand theft and possession of burglary tools.

06:40 - An RBPD jailer was assaulted by an inmate during routine duties and she summoned station personnel for assistance. Control was regained of the inmate who was placed back into custody. Due to injuries received by the jailer, felony charges were added to what was originally a misdemeanor booking for drunk-in-public.

Sunday 07/06
15:48 - RBPD Patrol monitored a pursuit that originated in Hermosa Beach. HBPD pursued a motorcycle into Redondo Beach southbound on PCH, then eastbound onto Garnet. The motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control going over the dips in the road. RB paramedics transported the motorist to Harbor General for treatment of abrasions and cuts. RB handled the traffic collision investigation while Hermosa handled the arrest and report for evading.

21:04 - RBPD received a mutual aid request from the City of Inglewood for a K-9 search of an area which they believed contained an armed robbery suspect. RBPD sent two K-9 search and arrest teams. One RBPD team located the outstanding suspect in an apartment building complex. The suspect fled from the K-9 team but subsequently ran into the arms of six other officers who awaited him outside the complex. The suspect was positively identified as the suspect who had earlier robbed a small retail store employee at gunpoint.
