Here's some stuff that kept the cops in Redondo Beach busy last week. It's from the weekly Redondo Beach Recent Law Enforcement Events report:

Aug. 13:

1800 Block of S. Pacific Coast Highway: At about 10:20 p.m., officers made a traffic stop ofgreenleaf.jpg several occupants in a vehicle for suspicious activity related to probable narcotic activity.

A narcotics trained police canine was requested at the scene of the traffic stop. K-9 Valor, under the supervision of Officer Ken Greenleaf, alerted to the trunk area of the stopped vehicle. A search of this area resulted in the recovery of a quantity of marijuana, concentrated cannabis, cash, and other evidence consistent with marijuana sales. The driver was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana for sales.

(I don't think that's Valor, but it's definitely Greenleaf.)

Aug. 15:

415 Diamond Street: At about 12:45 p.m., an unlicensed driver drove his vehicle into the south entrance of the Redondo Beach Library parking structure. The subject was driving erratically and accelerated his vehicle into a vehicle that was backing out of a parking stall.

The driver careened into several other parked vehicles and tore a fire extinguisher box off a concrete support structure. The driver then accelerated backwards striking another parked vehicle. The driver accelerated forward towards the parking structure entrance that he had entered and struck a pedestrian that had witnessed the event and was attempting to flee the area to call for assistance.

Officers arrived on scene and detained the driver. The pedestrian suffered serious injuries to both of her legs. Officers are investigating a possible medical issue with the driver.

Aug. 15:

gun.jpg2700 Block of Artesia Boulevard: At about 10:25 p.m. an officer mademarijuanaleaf.jpg a traffic stop for amplified music from a vehicle in violation of a Redondo Beach Municipal Code. During the subsequent contact, the driver revealed that he had a marijuana pipe and a handgun in the vehicle. The officer conducted a search and recovered a loaded and concealed handgun inside the vehicle. The driver was arrested for weapons charges.

Aug. 16:

galleria.jpg1815 Hawthorne Boulevard (Galleria Mall): At approximately 8:00 p.m., Galleria Security observed two suspects trying to open parked vehicle doors in the mall parking structure. Galleria Security watched the suspects enter one unlocked vehicle and remove property.

Redondo Beach Police arrived on scene and the detained the suspects. Officers recovered stolen property from the suspects that had been taken from locked and unlocked vehicles. The two male juvenile suspects were arrested for vehicle burglary.
