Scissors attack at Metro station
From City News Service:
LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A woman was in custody today after using a pair of scissors to attack a man on the platform of a Metro Red Line station in Universal City, authorities said.
Dache Owens, 31, lunged at a man about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, said sheriff's Lt. Ron Kegel of the Transit Services Bureau. Authorities were not certain what provoked the attack. Owens was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, Kegel said. She was held on $30,000 bail.
While the man and Owens struggled over the scissors, some other people on the platform tried to intervene, possibly thinking Owens was a victim, Kegel said. "Other patrons may have inferred that the man was trying to assault the female," Kegel said. Four people suffered minor cuts in the struggle, and a man was treated at a hospital for a non-life-threatening cut to his upper body, Kegel said. It was not clear if the hospitalized man was the original target of the attack, Kegel said.
