Police are trying to identify this guy, so if you recognize this face call the LAPD's Harbor Division.

On Wednesday, Oct. 8, about 5:20 p.m., he was one of two men who tried to yank a 15-year-old girl walking at 14th and Cabrillo in San Pedro into a blue pickup truck. A passerby scared them off.

She was OK.

Detectives also want to talk to the unidentified person who interrupted the crime, whatever it was to become. So if you are that person, call Detectives Brian Gasperian or Maria Orta at 310-522-2035.

Story soon, but that's the gist.

This infuriates me to no end! I mean when will San Pedro start getting news, when news happens? I actually wrote an article on this crime and included how terrible it is that San Pedro has a serious lack of crime reporters!

I live in Pedro and I can honestly say, we never hear about how much crime there is here...ever. I am starting to think, as well as my husband, that it is a "cover-up" of sorts. San Pedro doesn't want their precious port town realty to go down in price, so it seems.

This crime happened over a week ago...where were the reporters then? I stopped subscribing to the Daily Breeze because there just is never anything news worthy anymore. If there is anything worth reading, it happened ion's ago.

We found out about it yesterday from a parent. Once we got the information from the police, we had it on the Web in about an hour.

As far as San Pedro crime news, we run the major stories that we know about, and a weekly blotter of crime activity in the Harbor Area on Thursdays.

One add: On the day that happened, I was covering the search for two missing people in a boat crash off SAN PEDRO and a woman murdered in Carson allegedly by a SAN PEDRO man.

This is somewhat mind-boggling...For starters Mr. Altman, I e-mailed you over the weekend that I also was a victim of an attempted robbery kidnapping on what i thought was the same day, wednesday Oct.15th, only to just see that their attempt to kidnap the girl was a week prior..Not to overstate the obvious, but the dimwit is still roaming free amongst us. Yet you have not responded to me as yet, and the police detectives have returned one out of close to ten calls...My situation occurred at 3rd and a block from Cabrillo with several eye witnesses to the event, yet nothing from you and a painfully slow response from the police. the artists depiction is 'dead on', i could not be more sure. what is it going to take before you give this priority. its unsolved, its consistent in pattern, it has corroborating eye witnesses, and they weren't looking for our lunch money. get your acts together before someone gets seriously hurt or worse

I could SWEAR that I have seen this EXACT guy driving up 24th St (near Cabrillo and 24th) on a FEW occasions!!! I have yelled at him numerous times because of his excessive speed!
