If you were wondering what all the commotion was last night in Lawndale, you can relax.

Sheriff's Lt. Dominic Valencia, who supevises the Lawndale Service Center, told me today that police received a 911 call about 8 p.m. of shots fired in the 16100 block of Prairie Avenue.

Lawndale's been a pretty quiet town for a long time -- I haven't written about it in ages -- so this drew quite a police response. Deputies blocked off streets thinking someone had been shot.

After investigating a bit, deputies determined the 911 caller was mentally unstable and the report was false.

No shots were fired and nobody was injured.

The caller was taken to a hospital for psychiatric evaluation.
