Friday's sobriety checkpoint and a humorous video
Deputies will conduct sobriety and driver's license checkpoints from 7 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday on Avalon Boulevard north of Elsemere Drive and on Avalon Boulevard north of Carson Street in Carson.
Here's a video starring Nick Frost of "Shaun of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz." It has nothing to do with driving, but it's called, "Ever been this drunk?"

I've always wondered why Sobriety Checkpoints are made public. Isn't the point to catch people doing something they aren't supposed to be doing? If so, why let them know what streets to avoid?
Thank you!
Thanks for the question:
I posted a link to a previous answer. I added it in just below the video.....Hope that answers the question.
Sure it's fine and good to have sobriety checkpoints and people up to no good have to deal with the consequences. On the other hand, there are those of us that are glad to know when and where there are checkpoints so we know what areas to avoid, not because of drunk driving, but because we're trying to get somewhere and not deal with traffic. It may sound silly, but I for one am glad when I know not to go down a certain street while I'm on my way somewhere. After dealing with traffic on a daily basis to and from work, on errands or out for fun, it's good to have a break from some of the parking lot-like streets we all have to deal with in our parts of town.
