Two men have been charged with the shooting of the Ginie Samoya in the alley behind the Pacific Diner in San Pedro on Jan. 30. She died the next day.

Here's a press release from the District Attorney's Office. My story will appear later at dailybreeze.com and in the Saturday print edition.

Two Whittier men charged with capital murder

LONG BEACH - Charges were filed today against two Whittier men allegedly involved in the fatal shooting of a woman whose body was discovered late last month in San Pedro.

Deputy District Attorney Carrie Smith of Long Beach Branch Office said Michael Lee Bonfiglio, 31 (dob 6/12/77), and Raul Tiscareno, 26 (dob 9/20/82), are charged with one count each of murder, conspiracy to commit a crime and second-degree robbery.
Bonfiglio and Tiscareno are due to be arraigned this afternoon in Department J of Long Beach Superior Court. The defendants are being held without bail.

The murder count carries a special circumstance allegation of murder in the commission of a robbery and an allegation that the crime was committed while a principal in the offense was armed with a handgun.

Also alleged in the complaint are three felony convictions dating as far back as 1996 for Bonfiglio, including two for possession of a controlled substance, and two felony convictions for Tiscareno, including carjacking.

On Jan. 30, 2009, the victim's body was discovered in a San Pedro alley two blocks from her home. The victim was seated in the driver's seat of her car with a single gunshot wound to the back of the head. She was taken to a local hospital where she died the next day.

Los Angeles police officers of the Harbor Community Police Station arrested Bonfiglio on Feb. 10 and Tiscareno was arrested the next day.

Although charged as a capital case, the District Attorney's Office will not decide whether to seek death or life in prison without parole until the matter moves closer to trial.
