Hawthorne excessive force case gives peek inside
Sometimes, would-be stories come along that you know have the potential to be insightful ... or explosive. After the $1 million settlement in the Goodrow v. Hawthorne case was announced and reported here and in other media outlets, I learned about some of the things that occurred beginning very early in the case that were obviously questionable.
My story in today's Daily Breeze touch on only some of those issues. As is always the case when dealing with politics or lawyers, there are way more opinions and suspicions floating around out there then I could possibly tackle responsibly in one report. This story was several weeks in the making and there were many discussions about it along the way here in the newsroom and with sources who do not even appear in the report.
The comments that follow the story so far run the gamut from telling me I should be ashamed of myself to telling Hawthorne they should be ashamed of themselves to name-calling the plaintiffs. No matter what you think of any of us, it's worth noting just how easy mistakes, or cover-ups - depending on who you believe - can wreak havoc on someone's life. Take a side, spout hatred, cover your eyes and ears ... that's up to you. Just read the story, and be aware.

i dont even have to read your story to know how this police dept treats people. they are very racial and prejudice the thing is that no one does anything about it. People are just too afraid that is why nothing ever gets done. I live in this city I see it all the time, this police dept needs to be investigated for their corruption. the reason why people are afraid to come out and say something or anything is because they know that once known this police dept will harrass you, they will stop you and do a 51/50 on you for nothing. they all stick together. if you find maybe 8 black hawthorne police officers that is too many because they do not hire blacks..the ones they have in there have been there for ever ready to retire. I have observed this police dept stop people needlessly..when they are called out 3-4 squad cars come out...for 1 call...why do they do that because they are scared to be outhere in the streets alone, due to their own guilt and the way they handle people. They stop people in Hawthorne at random for bullshit ass stupid stuff, but yet they are afraid to go after the real criminals. If you call them for real crime they need 8 to come out to the scence at the same time.

Talk about excessive force and coverups
Please goggle my name, and the name: Michael "Buzzy" Arnold to get a glimpse into the true extreme to which the secret "genocide by police" is taking place in this, 'our land of the free and the brave'. I have been tracking and investigating this obscene, base disregard for human life for 11 years. I have the official stats from the U.S.Department of Justice dating back to 1990.During that decade the police in Calif. admit to an average of 137 "justifyable homocides by Police" per year. Do the math...that's 1,370 citizens in California alone, without adding to that ungodly number the stats from the 49 other states.Durning this same time period 76 police were killed nation-
wide. And since the year 2000 the numbers have increased exponentially, without Truth or Justice for even one of these precious Stolen Lives-For more info please contact me.
