I stopped by an ugly looking crash on the way home.

A Hermosa Beach paramedic ambulance collided with a Toyota Tacoma pickup in the intersection of 190th Street and Entradero Avenue in Torrance about 5:45 p.m.

Firefighters said the paramedics were carrying a 3-year-old child who had been suffering seizures to County Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. They were headed east on 190th.

The details on what exactly happened weren't immediately available, but the pickup and ambulance collided. I was told the ambulance had its siren blaring.

The ambulance slammed into a traffic signal pole.

The paramedics immediately radioed their base and another ambulance headed to the scene. The child, who suffered no physical injuries from the crash, was taken to the hospital. (It wasn't immediately clear to those who talked to me whether it was a boy or girl.)

The paramedics and the pickup driver also went to hospitals. Their injuries were not serious.
