BREAKING NEWS: Truck driver charged in horrible Angeles Crest Highway crash

This is a news release that just arrived from the District Attorney's Office:

Truck driver charged with vehicular manslaughter in fatal collision

PASADENA - A licensed commercial truck driver was charged today with felony counts in connection with a fatal traffic collision on Angeles Crest Highway, the District Attorney's Office announced.

Deputy District Attorney Shanna Batten of Pasadena Branch Office, who filed the case, said Marcos Barbosa Costa, 43 (dob 05/06/65), is charged with two counts of vehicular manslaughter. The defendant is due to be arraigned this afternoon at Pasadena Superior Court, Department D.

The complaint alleges the defendant killed Angelina and Angel Posca, father and daughter, while driving a vehicle in the commission of an unlawful act with gross negligence. Costa is charged in case No. GA076393.

The recommended bail for Costa is $200,000. A trial prosecutor has not yet been assigned.
