Here's some good news:

Just got word that doctors at University of California, Irvine, Medical Center have upgraded Jon Wilhite's condition to "fair." He started in "critical" condition, was upgraded to "serious," and

now  has moved to "fair." Next on the list is "good," so hopefully he's on his way.

Hospital spokesman John Murray told me that doctors today removed the halo that was stabilizing his neck. He remains in intensive care, but is moving around, undergoing speech and physical therapy.

If you saw my story today, it's amazing he even made it alive to the hospital.

Wilhite, 24, is a Mira Costa High School grad who was in the car that was hit by an alleged drunken driver in Fullerton a couple weeks ago. The crash killed Los Angeles Angels pitcher NIck Adenhart, 22; Courtney Stewart, 20, of Diamond Bar; and Henry Pearson, 25, of Manhattan Beach.

It's nice to report some good news for a change.
