Homicide victims organizations will unite for an "L.A. County 7-day Candlelight Vigil" in conjunction with "National Crime Victims' Rights Week," from April 26 to May 2.
This year's event marks "25 Years of Rebuilding Lives."

The vigils are to bring attention to the senseless killings and to unite victims throughout the county.

The candlelight vigils will begin at 7 p.m. each night in a different location.

The South Bay vigils will be held:
  • April 27: Roger Park, Beach and Eucalyptus avenues in Inglewood. The event is hosted by Helping Hands.
  • May 2 at the water fountains, Harbor Drive and Swinford Street in San Pedro. Justice for Murdered Children will host.
People who cannot attend are asked to light candles at home from 7 to 9 p.m.

Larry Altman has covered crime in the South Bay since 1990. He's seen it all - the missing model who turned up dead in the desert, the wives found dead in trunks, the high-school coaches who get a little too close to their players. He drives his young colleagues nuts with his "I remember when" stories. He welcomes your tips and observations about the present, and you can mix in a little Lakers basketball talk if you like.
