Police have surrounded a residence near 24th Street and Patton Avenue in San Pedro, where a man is holed up.

I don't really know why he's doing this, but police tell me they have verified that he's got a weapon.

It's been going on since about 4:30.

There's a helicopter flying over it.

My husband, daughter, and I were there as the police set up the yellow tape and pulled out their guns. We had went to buy sandwiches at Busy Bee and found ourselves surrounded by over ten police cars. I heard them say that the man's parents were there with the police. Luckily we got our sandwiches and left before witnessing anything.

I just got home from visiting the natural history museum and took a nap when i got woken up by sirens at about 5pm. I saw so many undercover cars and about 4 swat tanks.. What is going on that this is all needed???

To Kevin,
The LAPD does not have control over freaks holding themselves up in their homes with a gun. It starts with the person not the LAPD. They do their best to see that the innocent people are not harmed. You should be thanking them for doing a great job in capturing these freaks who cause this mess in the first place.

So whats the latest update?? I didn't catch anything on the daily breeze.. Pedro is getting crazy.. Pray for our city.

To Kevin,
I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. But you're right about the other crimes going on in our city. It's a shame for our children who can't even walk home from school with these preditors roaming around as well as the kids having access to guns. Unfortunately, this is not just happening in SP. It's all around us. Will it ever stop? Probably not, but our law enforcement has their hands full. Let's just pray that someday we will see peace in our city once again.

They finally caught the idiot after throwing teargas into his parents home. I hope they take him away and throw away the key, after they make him pay for what this cost the city in police and emergency usage. Most of us are going through stress but we dont take it out on innocent people. It angers me alot.
