This photo is taken from his MySpace page. He apparently went by the nickname Polar Bear.

Rob will be missed at his job of Balfour Beatty Rail. What happened to him was tragic but all of us at Balfour know that he is in a better place and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Rob was a great guy and friend we will miss him.

This guy used to come to my store. I would make him hats, I made him a couple that said "cracker"
he was always very respectful and very nice guy. I can't believe he's gone.

Words cannot express the sorrow our families feels the moment we found out. After your Dad left this world you were our other son. You always made us proud. Your size could intiminate people but if they really knew you they would have seen the kind and big baby your really were. Life never promises us longivity. The Lord knew it was time to take you to Dad. You did what you were suppose to do here and that was to share you laughter and love with us. We will continue to remember you Robbie in our prayers and stories. Nick loved everyday with both you and your dad. Those dreams about you and your dad that Nick had, we're you trying to tell him that you were gone already? We believe you were.
Some day Robbie we'll all be together but until then Son God Bless you and now your home.

Larry Altman has covered crime in the South Bay since 1990. He's seen it all - the missing model who turned up dead in the desert, the wives found dead in trunks, the high-school coaches who get a little too close to their players. He drives his young colleagues nuts with his "I remember when" stories. He welcomes your tips and observations about the present, and you can mix in a little Lakers basketball talk if you like.
