Damn. this is quite shocking. clearly Steve let his moron half brother get him mixed up with some losers. before this I'm not sure Steve had ever seen cocaine before. i think the real victim here is his wife and kids.
I feel sorry for both families. However, that "moron brother" your talking about was a good person who didn't show any signs of hanging around losers. In fact, he was a well respected person in the Downey Community and we are as well shocked by this. Please keep the negative comments to yourself. This comes down to strickly a bad economy and desperate for money. The unfortunate part is that both of them made the wrong choices (both grown men) and able to make their own decisions. Let's all pray for both of them and their families in this horrible and emotional time. Please keep in mind even the white collars are greedy and this just shows that we need to support one another.
Wholly cow! I can not believe this. I am still in shock.
I have seen many articles keep addressing them as step-brothers. The fact remains that they are "brothers." You can't blame one for antoher ones actions! These are two mean in their 30's who choose to do something that was wrong and will affect their lives for ever. I know both of them and neither one have every showed any signs of being involved in such an act. Just goes to show that this economy is affecting everyone. There is no excuse but it shows how the pressure of money and bills can change someone. The unfortunate part is that this is a long life lesson for the two of them. Both will be leaving loved ones behind. I wish them both luck in court, and the writer above is right we ALL need to learn from this mistake. An average person can be changed by the pressure, of loosing your home, job, cars, money and esc. Keep strong and pray!
I agree with the two positive writers above that sympathy must go out to the brothers' friends and family who will suffer the life-long tragedy of this unfortunate and desperate mistake. Both of these men are good people and are still good people who unfortunately succumbed to the pressures of the economy and felt it necessary to take such a risk. They will be paying for this mistake for the rest of their lives and now is the time to lend them hope and support. My prayers go out to all 3 men and their families, not just the 2 brothers, in hopes that they will endure this mistake and stay strong. God bless.
I did not read any articles refer to them as step brothers, but i read many that referred to them as half brothers.
Steve was not like this and his brother and his supporters from downey neet to no that guys is no good
Again, Both are grown men that made a decision for themselves. I don't think Jeff held a gun up to Steve's head & made him do what THEY did. They both made a bad decision that ruined their lives. Personally, I hope both get max sentence because only GOD knows how many KIDS/people would have OD'd on the stuff they had. Everyone has money problems right now but it doesn't mean society condones actions as stupid as theirs was. Anyhow all of us that knew them need to act as if both are dead now because even if they make it out of jail alive their lives will always be in danger as well as the people that hang out with them.
Obviously the person that made the comment about acting as if they are both dead, was not a true friend from the beginning! Anyone that is a true friend would never judge another friend until they knew all the facts associated with this case. Someone that has never had a past or a problem with drugs and then makes a mistake like this doesn't deserve to have people judge them in this way. Just remember that these drug's would have made in on the streets one way or another! I know that is no excuse but just remember that you can't believe everything that you read. You don't even know for a fact that they knew there was drugs in the RV in the first place. Unless you have spoken to the family or the brothers themselves then you should keep your assumptions and opinions to yourself! I hope everyone takes a step back and looks at this as a lesson that you could be in their mother's shoes one day. She probably never thought that she would be going through this, so just remember your harsh opinions just might come back to bite you in the ASS! So if you have nothing nice to say JUST SHUT UP!!!!!!!
I understand that Steve's family is upset and by all means I would be as well. But both are to blame for their selfish acts. They both knew the consequences of their actions, yet they choose this road in life, for whatever reason they found fit. It truly is a tragedy for both families that the person's they loved so much just ruined their lives. Blaming others is easy, they hard part is excepting the facts of lives! Now they did the crime and unfortunately they must pay the time. Lessons are always learned by consequences, now we must just have hope and strength to overcome. But the ignorance and pointing of fingers is getting old and just showing how much you truly no someone. May god rest your poor souls.
I only know Steve and he was a good person, always helping out others who were in need. He has a good heart and he just wanted to take care of his family who he loves very much. The pressure of being out of work and paying his mortgage got to him. I don't think he knew what was going on the first time. I think this "El Gordo" guy wouldn't want them to know about his business. He even told me about the first run and that he was just driving the RV.
WOW this is scary, to think of the pressure of these tough times and what you might do. I might of done it to. It was easy money, I would just have had a plan first and a back story.
Its unfortunate how some of you want to justify what is plain wrong, we all know that every action has a consequence. Someone mentioned that the drugs would have made it to the streets anyways, true. What I really have a problem with,in Jeff's case, is that he has had access to our youth for several years and to know that schools and little league allow individuals like him, (he is not the only one) to coach our children, its insane. I hope that the schools and little leagues take a stronger stand when accepting/allowing individuals to volunteer their time as we would have never known this if he didnt get cought. Question their motives and dont let them use children as a shield to cover up their faulted characters. The so-called friends sound more like partners in crime. What other crimes have you covered up for your friends in the name of friendship?
In regards to WHS Parent Statement: Nobody is trying to justify anything friend or no friend what he did was wrong, but Jeff had no past history of anything like this! You are acting like the school and little league were aware of any wrong doing and just let him keep going around the kids. This is not the case. Jeff did not have a criminal record prior to this. So don't act like you know how long this had been going on, cause you don't. You are right everything has a consequence and he will have to pay for what he has done and he will never be able to coach kids again and he knows that. If you read some of the comments and pay attention I don't think that anyone is trying to justify what he has done, we are just trying to say don't be so quick to judge what you don't know to be true or false and remember that he has a family that is trying to deal with this situation and they love him dispite what he has done and they don't need judgemental people like you making remarks about someones character that you don't even know. Finally in reference to your assumption that we (jeff's friends) knew what is going on. This could not be farther from the truth, NOBODY knew what JEFF was doing and I know that for a fact!!!! Just remember NOBODY THINKS WHAT HE DID WAS RIGHT!!!!! We are just trying to be supportive to him and the family he has left behind. Get the facts before you make assumptions!!!! Please!!!
I just have to say how incredibly stupid it was of the two of them to do what they did. Not only will their lives never be the same no matter the outcome but their family and friends lives are forever changed as well. The saftey of their family is as stake. Did they ever stop to think that if they make it out of prison with their lives in tact, they will have to look over their shoulders for the rest of their lives. Did they stop to consider that their choice has forced friends to have to take a step back from them. Even if you choose to remain friends with them you have to realize that your saftey is now at risk just by association. Its a sad, sad senario all the way around. I pray for their saftey as they travel down this path that is their future. I pray for their family that they may endure what lies ahead and that they are safe. Most of all I pray that this life lesson is one that they both come out better men for.
Sin is sin. So those without sin, throw the first stone. We only have 1 judge - remember that. Steve is paying and will pay for what he's done, lets all remember that. There are 3 people who I love dearly that are left in the balance --let's not keep hurting THEM by saying these hurtful things. Aren't they suffering enough?
You are correct! I only met Steve once but that does not matter my heart still goes out to all involved! No matter what, nobody has any right to judge! We have all made bad choices some worse than others but that doesn't make Jeff and Steve any worse than us they are both good people and deserve the support from their true friends and family!
I've know Steve and his family for over 4 years, and he is a good guy!! He is a clean guy, no drugs or past history!! Him and his wife were full of life and ready to have fun with family and friends...It's very sad that they were so stupid to get into something so big because of the easy money, (the way i see is if this was that easy everybody would do it) but the reality is that Steve doesnt deserve to be there...at least not for a long time!!! His wife and kids are suffering big time!! It's sad!! No matter what!! People make mistakes, but this is a very high price to pay!!
I really dont know Jeff! So i have no clue of what kind of person he his...
We are friends with the both of them... Jeff and Steven, May god keep them safe... Who are we to JUDGE!!!We all have made the wrong choice one time in our life.
you "Friends of" people are idiots. None of you have any idea of what is involved in narcotics smuggling. These two knew exactly what was in the bags, where they needed to go and what they were getting paid. Furthermore, these two were introduced to the high level smugglers that provided them with that job. I don't give a shit how bad the economy is....these two are clearly not "good" individuals as some of you would like to think. There are always legitamate ways to work things out and earn money. These two saw easy money and didn't give a damn how they were getting it or who they might hurt. Hope they enjoy their next twenty years in prison. And for the record, their families are better off without them.
i just want to know what the outcome of the sentencing was on nov 12?
steve is a very kind hearted person and i dont belive that he had anything to do with it.I feel that he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.i really hope that he didn't get that long of a sentence and i would like to know how the senenceing went on november 12th.michael jackson
