Lennox sheriff's deputies will again be offering $100 gift cards in exchange for guns during a two-day program beginning Friday.

The "Gifts for Guns" event will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the Food 4 Less parking lot at 11407 S. Western Ave. in the unincorporated Athens area.

Deputies will provide gift cards for Ralphs, Food 4 Less and Target stores for any handgun, rifle or shotgun turned over. An assault weapon is worth $200.

"It's to take guns off the street that could potentially be taken in burglaries and used in violent- related crime," sheriff's Lt. Val Rosario said.

Since sheriff's stations embarked on a countywide program March 28, more than 2,200 guns have been collected.

The Lennox station took in more than 600 guns during a program in December.

Perfect as my mother wanted books, but I did not know what she had already read. She was very happy. Service and delivery was great.

My recent purchase of a gift card for a grandchild's birthday was calculated to be quick, easy, and practical. Since we are a family of readers, the Gift Card fit all my expectations and needs! Thank you for being so reliable (and predictable!)
