kahlwedding1.jpgMy full story will be coming out on the Web soon, but here's a taste:

Chris Kahl, a Mira Costa High School graduate from Redondo Beach, married his sweetheart, Areli, on Saturday at the Holiday Inn Buena Park.

Everything went great. The wedding was themed "Happily Ever After." Why not. The couple met at Disneyland. She wore a tiara. Cinderella and Prince Charming topped their cake.

But for a moment while they posed for some photos at the conclusion of the reception, a thief snatched the photographer's camera when he set it down for a moment.

The camera contains a disc with nearly 800 photos on it.

This couple needs a happy ending. All they have left are relatives' photos.

"It's shifted the focus from the beauty of the day to the sad moment where
you feel violated," the groom's mother, Diana, said. "It's their memory. It's their history
of their day and now someone else has it."

Look for the story soon at dailybreeze.com and in Thursday's Daily Breeze print edition.

They might try checking the site ifoundyourcamera.blogspot.com. Maybe whoever stole the camera will dump the SD card, and if they're very very lucky, some good soul will try to return it to them...

Larry Altman has covered crime in the South Bay since 1990. He's seen it all - the missing model who turned up dead in the desert, the wives found dead in trunks, the high-school coaches who get a little too close to their players. He drives his young colleagues nuts with his "I remember when" stories. He welcomes your tips and observations about the present, and you can mix in a little Lakers basketball talk if you like.
