UPDATE: Daily Breeze reporter Vu Nguyen, 1975-2009
Daily Breeze education reporter Vu Nguyen died late Friday with his family at his side when he was removed
from life support systems.
Doctors at Kaiser Permanete Medical Center in Harbor City determined that after a week in a coma, the 34-year-old
"I love him so much and being his wife and being a part of his life brought me so much happiness," his wife said. "And I thank him for sharing his life with me, even though it was brief."
Nguyen was an organ donor. Hua said she hoped her husband could save another life.
"It's because we know how much it hurts to lose a family member," she said.
Nguyen never regained consciousness after suffering cardiac arrest while playing soccer with friends on Sunday.
During the week, a stream of family members, friends and co-workers visited his bedside.
Nguyen worked at several newspapers. He joined the Daily Breeze staff in August, covering
