window.JPGI'm working on a story about another rash of shootings of glass at businesses in Torrance and Redondo. They also hit about 25 cars last night.

I've been running all over the place talking to people. Story coming.

UPDATE: Because of the death of Michael Jackson and the amount of space that will be devoted to the story, the vandalism story will run over the weekend. Stay tuned.

I was one of the people who had their car windows smashed last night. You kids who think your "COOL" cause you drive around (probably in your parents car) and vandalize people's cars & business, just know Karma will catch up with you. Later in life something very important that you care about will get ruined. I hope you get caught and end up having to pay for every single window that had to be replaced. Here's a life lesson: GROW UP!!

The Daily Breeze should not have Larry Altman reporting this story. Larry will find out who is vandalizing the area stores and cars and sit down with them and then smoke a joint with them like he did with the "Naked Skateboarder". Larry, you are a loser, not a reporter. Get a life!!!

I did not smoke the joint. It was not offered to me.

Thanks for covering this Larry. I hope this pressures the local police departments to deploy the resources and catch these idiots.

This window stuff has been going on for about two months now if I recall correctly. It was like every night there was at least one window shot out and every time it was with a BB gun.

Thanks Larry for covering this. Hopefully when the story breaks one of their acquaintances gives a good tip to the police about some fool bragging about it.

Larry, your calm, factual replies to rude comments always crack me up. I haven't commented before, but I really enjoy this blog and appreciate the work that goes into it.

I walk to work every day from P.C.H. up neat Topaz down to the Village and the number of boarded up windows is getting to be astonishing.

As a business owner, I feel horrified when I think about the extra costs and expenses this / these cowardly vandal(s) is / are causing people.

It did randomly (well, not so randomly) make me think of the story of the glass repair company owner who had gone around smashing windows to drum up business.

Let's hope it's just kids, and that they get caught quickly before more damage is done and before a person gets hurt.

Thanks Anne.

You should see some of the responses I write that I delete and avoid posting. Trying to stay employed. But no one has complained to me or said anything nasty for nearly eight hours. Been a rough week.

Thanks Larry for covering this. I am one of the business owners who had the pleasure of being waken up in the middle of the night by the police to inform me that the window of my retail store in Redondo had been blown out. Business is difficult enough and us business owners don't need to incur any additional expenses due to some punks getting their thrills.. Hope the police catch them soon. Will keep an eye out for your story.

It's some unemployed loser who is too broke to go to a club, have a girlfriend, or move out of his mom's house.

He's taking it out on businesses because he can't get a job - it's his idea of payback.
