The westbound lanes of El Segundo Boulevard are closed as crews work to repair a broken utility pole and traffic signal.

A driver traveling west at 60 to 80 mph crashed into the poles about 4:20 p.m. near Prairie Avenue, Hawthorne police Lt. Mike Ishii said.

The driver had a suspended license.

"We are also adding reckless driving," Ishii said. "Numerous witnesses said he was driving 60 to 80 mph, weaving in and out of traffic and lost control."

The driver was not hurt. A passenger was taken to a hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.

No other vehicles were involved.

El Segundo Boulevard was expected to be closed until about 7:30 p.m.

4:20 eh? was he smoking dope too?

Boggles the mind why someone would even draw attention to themselves knowing their license is suspended.

Suspended license, reckless driving, passenger injuries, and the driver doesn't even know the limits of their vehicle? Throw 6-months at them.
