Conant allegedly threw fireworks under the horses in an
attempt to spook them. The horses remained calm and deputies were able
to chase and arrest Conant, the chief said.
Savelli said the horses "are trained for just such antics, did not react and continued to work throughout the day and night."
Savelli said he hopes to utilize the Mounted Patrol next year and possibly at other events, including the Fiesta, St. Patrick's Day Parade and on New Year's Eve.
