My brother drowned in the same location (6th Street) in July of 1946. He was 12 years old. Over the years I have noticed that others have drowned in the same location, usually in summer. I would be curious if there were statistics on drowning in Manhattan Beach. July and August is a time of big tides swings, large south swells and warm water; all bad combinations. I recall a boy drowning off 6th Street, wearing blue jeans, about 13 or 14 years ago. We tried to keep the news from my mother (she was living in Palm Desert) but she always seemed to find out these things and was haunted by the memory of my brother’s death
