Dist. Atty. Steve Cooley to throw out first pitch at Dodger Stadium Wednesday in honor of the Hollenbeck Youth Center

LOS ANGELES - District Attorney Steve Cooley will throw out the first pitch Wednesday at Dodger Stadium as the Los Angeles Dodgers host the Milwaukee Brewers.

Cooley was invited to throw the first pitch to honor and celebrate the Hollenbeck Youth Center.

For more than 30 years, the Hollenbeck Youth Center in Boyle Heights has provided free educational, cultural and recreational after-school programs in a safe environment. The mission is to keep youths out of gang and criminal activities. HYC is home to the L.A. Inner-City Games, which marked its 20th Anniversary in 2008.

Larry Altman has covered crime in the South Bay since 1990. He's seen it all - the missing model who turned up dead in the desert, the wives found dead in trunks, the high-school coaches who get a little too close to their players. He drives his young colleagues nuts with his "I remember when" stories. He welcomes your tips and observations about the present, and you can mix in a little Lakers basketball talk if you like.
