Update *****
September 10,
2009
On September 9, 2009, El Camino
College issued an alert about a female student who was allegedly forced into a
car, blindfolded and driven off campus. Our information was based on a report
provided by the LAPD who interviewed the alleged victim. Late yesterday, ECC
police had the opportunity to directly interview the alleged victim. During that
interview the female student recanted her story, and reported to ECC police that
she met a fellow student in class, went with him to the campus bookstore, walked
across Manhattan Beach Blvd. and willingly got into his car with him and drove
to his home; she was not forced into his car on campus and blindfolded as she
earlier reported. There was no crime committed on the El Camino College
campus.
The ECC PD interview with the alleged
victim included a review of images provided by one of the 47 surveillance
cameras installed throughout campus. These cameras are an important tool in our
overall campus safety plan. When the project is completed, more than 100
security cameras will be installed across the campus. Cameras monitor and record
campus activity day and night, seven days per week.
The decision to report this incident
to the campus community was based on the best information available at the time;
and was in keeping with our commitment to provide a safe environment for
students and employees.
Please
remember for your safety:
- Have keys in hand before walking to your car
- Always be aware of your surroundings - remember the use of listening devices and cell phones may significantly distract you
- Don't walk alone
- Use the buddy system
- Use cautious judgment: meet new people, including classmates or colleagues, in public places; do not get into a car or go to out-of-the-way places with someone you do not know
- Learn the location of "Code Blue" POLICE phones located throughout campus. These phones are directly linked to the college Police Department and are considered 911 priority lines. Students and staff are encouraged to utilize these phones for any emergenc
- Use ECC Courtesy Shuttle operated by ECC Police from 6:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.; on-call 24 hours. Use one of the POLICE phones located throughout campus, or call campus police 310-660-3100 for this service.
- In an emergency contact campus police by using one of the POLICE phones on campus; calling 911 from any pay phone on campus; or by calling 310-660-3100 from a cell phone
- Night students and faculty are encouraged to park in the same general area as other faculty or students with night classes in their building; this provides the opportunity for a group of students and faculty to walk to their cars after dark
- Immediately report any suspicious activity to campus police
- Be alert! Be prepared!

So this girl was about to ruin some innocent man's life.
Kudos to the Breeze for staying on top of this!
because potentially ruining a man's life with a false rape report is not serious enough to punish this woman. Has she served ANY punishment, is there a process currently underway for it????? something inside tells me no
To the two knuckleheads above me, it is a shame that you don't understand what it means to live in a society where you are judged harshly for the same morals that the other gender doesn't have to abide by; the reality of being a femail (yes, that's the feminist spelling) in Amerikka.
Heard of second rape? Wouldn't be surprised if you didn't. Or how about "a crime with a friendly weapon"? Both of these terms are used to describe the horrible attitude and mistreatment rape victims receive at the hands of the cops. I wouldn't be surprised if this was what lead her to "change her story." They probably dismissed it due to inaccuracies in minute facts. Fact is, when something as traumatizing as rape happens, many people possess trauma amnesia as a way of dealing with it, events that are too horrible to deal with. Yet you two nimrods want to make this into a poor male vs female slander fest. Fact is, sexual assault is a daily fact of life for most womyn. We womyn face sexual harassment, which is a precursor for rape, on a daily basis. It's funny because in a society that sees nothing wrong with "a little rape", when we threaten to cut off dicks, even of the violating parties, all hell breaks lose and the veanging womyn is seen as the "b" word or worse. We as Americans talk about islamic countries. Yet we got our sharia laws and moral attitudes towards womyn over here. Prostitution being one where the cops routinely rape sex workers. But hey, that's okay because womyn get held to different moral standards than men since womyn are called sluts while men are called studs for the same thing. But, hey that's all right as long as you got your dicks and male privilege, right?
Again, don't downplay what happened to this child due to a simply changing of minute facts. At the end of the day, that could be your sister, mother, daughter.
