Update on shooting of pizza deliveryman in Lawndale
I met with detectives at the Lennox sheriff's station this morning. Among the things we talked about was an update on a recent shooting that wounded a pizza deliveryman in Lawndale.
If you'll recall, the deliveryman was shot in the chin during a failed robbery in the 4100 block of 160th Street about 9 p.m. Oct. 13.
Sheriff's Detective John Silverstein has interviewed the victim since my last report and provided me a little more info on what happened.
The Domino's deliveryman had just dropped off a pizza when a robber wearing a white mask like those in the "Scream" movies confronted him. (Initially, detectives were told it was silver.)
The robber spoke in broken Spanish.
The victim, realizing he was being robbed, went to his vehicle to get money. When he saw the gun pointed at him, he feared for his life and swung his arm up, knocking the robber's arm. The gun fired. A bullet hit the victim in the chin. He is recovering.

The robber ran to a white truck waiting in a nearby alley. Another man was inside. They took off.
Silverstein said he has little to go on and needs help. If you have tips, call him at the Lennox sheriff's station at 310-671-7531
.
The detective suspects the crime was one of opportunity. Perhaps the men involved were looking for someone to rob and came upon the pizza deliveryman, he said.
Detectives are also investigating a robbery Oct 17 at 9:30 p.m. involving a pizza deliveryman in El Camino Village. In that one, robbers placed a bogus pizza order to be delivered to an address near 148th Street and Lemoli Avenue. When he got there, they robbed him.

Thanks. I guess.
I have been a strong critic of Larry Altman's writing in the past, especially when he made a Psycho reference in a news article a couple months ago. It took too much artistic license with what should have been a factual news article. I really gave it to Larry hard. However, since that time, I have noticed that Larry has stepped up to the plate, improving his writing and reporting styles to a level that is starting to look quite professional. Maybe Larry can also throw in a couple of polysyllabic words now and then so we can elevate the intelligence of the Daily Breeze readership beyond what it currently is (I am just dreaming, aren't I). In any event, I just want to say to Larry to keep up the good work.
To AmericanAttorneyAbroad:
Wow, dude. Your douche-a-meter reading is off the charts!
Larry's adherence to high journalistic standards have not changed unlike your med prescription.
I remember your posts in the "Psycho" discussion - you are a complete narcissist and pompous a-hole.
"The bookful blockhead, ignorantly read with loads of learned lumber in his head." (of course you know who said this, being as intelligent as you are).
