Man sought in South Los Angeles sexual assault and torture case

Manhunt for Man Who Tortured and Sexual Assaulted Girlfriend
Los Angeles: A manhunt is under way as Los Angeles police search for a man who beat, tortured and sexually assaulted his girlfriend on October 31, 2009, in South Los Angeles.
At around 9:00 p.m., Herrera's girlfriend showed up at his apartment located in the 1100 block of West 41st Place. Once inside the apartment, he and the woman became involved in a heated argument about her being late. Detectives say Herrera became angry and restrained the woman. He then subjected to torture her by punching, cutting her with a knife and striking her multiple times with an electrical cord. During the attack, Herrera poured acid on the victim's face and sexually assaulted her. Afterwards, he let the woman drive off and followed her in his pick-up truck. The victim was able to elude the suspect's vehicle and drove to her family's house.
A family member drove the victim to Newton Division Police Station. An ambulance was summoned and the woman was taken to a local hospital where she was treated and released.

"This incident appears to be an isolated incident and it is believed that it's not related to any other assaults in the area," said Detective Eloy Ochoa. Police however, are requesting the
public's assistance in locating him and additional victims.
