Here's what Redondo Beach police sent over about some recent happenings:

05-18-10 (TUESDAY):

400 North Pacific Coast Highway (SR-1): At about 1:00 a.m., officers responded to a single vehicle traffic collision. Once on scene, the officers determined that a vehicle, traveling north on North Pacific Coast Highway, struck a curb and then collided with a cement lamp post. The force of the collision caused extensive damage to the lamp post. City Public Works responded to cap exposed live wires from the damaged lamp post. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver did not appear injured but was transported to a local hospital as a precaution due to the extensive vehicle and property damage.

05-19-10 (WEDNESDAY):

Bicycle Path at Sapphire Street: At about 1:00 a.m., two joggers on the Bicycle Path were approached by a male suspect who confronted and threatened them, demanding money. One of the joggers told the suspect they had no money, only car keys. Fearing the suspect might harm them, one of the joggers threw a set of car keys to the suspect. The joggers then turned away and ran. The victims described the suspect as a male Caucasian adult who smelled of alcohol and appeared to be a transient.

05-20-10 (THURSDAY):

409 North Pacific Coast Highway #200 (Pitcher House Upper Deck): At about 1:00 a.m., officers responded to a fight involving two individuals. Upon arrival, officers learned that one subject struck the other subject in the face with a beer bottle causing a cut above the eye. The subject causing the injury then fled the scene in a cab. The officers were able to determine the fleeing subject's destination in Redondo Beach. The officers detained the subject who was later positively identified by the injured subject. An arrest was made for felony assault.

2400 block of Phelan Avenue: At about 7:00 a.m., officers responded to a theft call and learned that during an "open house" over the weekend, an unknown suspect(s) removed miscellaneous jewelry from the home.
Continuation of 05-20-10 (THURSDAY):

1700 block of South Pacific Coast Highway (SR-1): At about 10:50 p.m., a suspect confronted his former roommate and began to fight with him. During the fight, the suspect threatened his roommate and stole his roommate's cell phone. Officers, responding to a "robbery just occurred call", observed the suspect attempting to flee the area and detained him. The suspect was positively identified by the roommate and arrested for Strong Arm Robbery.

05-21-10 (FRIDAY):

1815 Hawthorne Boulevard: At about 4:30 p.m., two patrons were walking towards the South Bay Galleria Mall entrance when they were approached by four subjects. One of the subjects, later identified as the suspect, bumped into one of the patrons and quickly yanked a necklace from the patron's neck. The patron ran after the suspect and grabbed him while demanding to have his necklace returned. The suspect punched the patron and a fight ensued. The suspect broke free and joined the remaining three subjects as they entered their vehicle. Arriving officers detained the vehicle before it could flee the area. The patron positively identified the suspect. The patron's property was retrieved from the suspect's possession. The suspect was arrested for Strong Arm Robbery.

Continuation of 05-21-10 (FRIDAY):

2200 block of Artesia Boulevard: At about 7:00 p.m., a victim was parked and talking on a cell phone when approached by two suspects. The suspects had blocked the victim's vehicle with their vehicle. The suspects smashed out the driver and passenger side windows of the victim's vehicle and held a knife to his throat while demanding jewelry. The victim said that he did not have any jewelry. The suspects then removed the victim's wallet and fled the area prior to police arrival.

05-22-10 (SATURDAY):
Redondo Beach Avenue/Marine Avenue: At about 3:45 a.m., the driver of a freight truck was on Marine Avenue, in the process of turning onto Redondo Avenue, when an unknown suspect entered the unlocked passenger side of the truck. The driver, startled and fearful, jumped out of the truck and abandoned it. The driver ran to a Northrop Grumman security/guard post and called police as the suspect fled the area in his truck. The freight truck was carrying a shipment of laptop computers. Responding officers were unable to locate the suspect.
