Residents who call the Lennox sheriff's station for service should use a new phone number.

The number is 323-820-6700 and will be the telephone number for the Sheriff's Department's new South Los Angeles station when it tenatively opens next week, sheriff's Lt. Jeff Enfield said.

People who use the old phone number are being switched to the new building at 1310 W. Imperial Ave. in the Athens area.

Deputies are taking calls at the new station, but are still accepting visitors at the counter of the Lennox station on Lennox Boulevard.

The station, however, will be closed as soon as next week. The new station will tentatively open Sept. 7.

The new station will serve the unincorporated areas of Lennox, Athens, Del Aire, Wiseburne and El Camino Village, as well as city of Lawndale.

South Bay residents can also use the Lawndale Service Center at 15331 Prairie Ave. from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The number is 310-219-2750.
