Redondo Union High teacher pleads guilty to lewd conduct
A Redondo Union High School teacher pleaded guilty Tuesday to exposing himself to a teenage student when they were alone in his classroom.
Louis Jay Haddad, 50, of Seal Beach entered his plea to one count of lewd conduct about 10 days before his trial was set to begin at the Torrance courthouse, Redondo Beach City Prosecutor Brenda Wells said.
Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 20. Wells said she would not release the terms of Haddad's plea agreement until then.

Haddad had faced three misdemeanor counts of annoying or molesting a
child under 18, and a single count of indecent exposure involving three
victims.
Potentially he faced up to three years, six months in prison if convicted at trial.
Police arrested Haddad Dec. 3 when a 16-year-old student alleged that the media arts teacher committed a lewd act in front of her while the two were alone in a classroom.
Redondo Beach Unified School District officials placed Haddad on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the case.
Two more girls came forward after news of his arrest to say similar incidents previously happened to them. Those incidents did not include exposure.
The charge of annoying and molesting children does not require touching.
Police said Haddad had arranged a meeting with the girl in his classroom during sixth period when he did not teach a course. He told the girl he wanted to talk about a school matter.
The teacher, police said, talked about a sexually explicit topic and "engaged in a sexual act in her presence," police said.
Haddad has been free on bail.
His attorney, Michael Cavaluzzi, did not return a phone message.
Haddad is married and has two children.
