Police will conduct a driver's license checkpoint from 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday in the 3100 block of Inglewood Avenue.

Police officers will check motorists to identify those driving without licenses, or with revoked or suspended licenses to remove them from the street. Cars will be towed and their drivers cited.

Officers said statistics show unlicensed drivers are more likely to flee an accident to avoid prosecution for being unlicensed and having no insurance.

Thank you to the Torrance PD for this.

People have their licenses suspended for a good reason. They are unsafe drivers and often repeat offenders. They shouldn't be driving at all.

One such person rear-ended my daughter on the 405 Fwy and totaled her car. He didn't even bother to stop and see how she was. He ran, but eventually got caught. (My daughter and her passenger were uninjured.)
