Why be so rude?
I went to the Torrance courthouse today to cover a hearing on a major South Bay case.
I got there about 9:30, figuring that was about when it would start. Of course, nothing was going on in the courtroom. About six cops, a few attorneys and a bailiff were just sitting around talking. The judge wasn't in the room.
I sat down for a few minutes, not knowing if I was late for my case. So, I walked over to the bailiff to ask a question and said, "I'm Larry from the Breeze."
He responded sarcastically and rudely: "Congratulations."
Although an obscenity slipped to the tip of my tongue, ready to spew, I said nothing in response. I rolled my eyes and asked if my case had been called. He told me it was postponed and gave me the new date.
I walked out of the courtroom wondering why I didn't say anything and why I had to be the professional one. Do I really have to be treated that way? Is that the way he talks to everybody or just reporters there to do a job?
Great way to start the day.

Karmas a bitch! Maybe some of us in the Law Enforcement field haven't forgotten how you've treated those who can't defend themselves! IE. Jeff Goodrich!
No, I think it is more about a bailiff who hates everything about his job. Can you imagine just how boring that job must be? All day, every day all you do is stand and listen. And then stand and listen some more.
Jeff Goodrich was a corrupt MB cop who would have been charged had he not died.
