Hermosa Beach beat reporter Douglas Morino reports today that officials plan to crack down on those of you who drink at the city's bars and choose to relieve yourselves in parking lots and planters.

"The City Council is expected to embark on a public education campaign to remind revelers flocking to the city's beach-side bars that succumbing to the urge to empty their bladders in the city's shadows is illegal."
A ticket will cost you $500, so you might want to find a toilet or hold it until you get home.

Larry Altman has covered crime in the South Bay since 1990. He's seen it all - the missing model who turned up dead in the desert, the wives found dead in trunks, the high-school coaches who get a little too close to their players. He drives his young colleagues nuts with his "I remember when" stories. He welcomes your tips and observations about the present, and you can mix in a little Lakers basketball talk if you like.
