Pedro crosswalk and drove away.

Chong Min, right, of San Pedro was walking southbound in a crosswalk on Mesa Street about 7:05 p.m. Saturday when a white minivan going westbound on Third Street struck him, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Min suffered a skull fracture, was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead, said Los Angeles police Sgt. Ruben Vega of the South Traffic Division.

The driver never stopped to help or identify himself or herself, police said.

Anyone with information about the driver or incident was asked to call LAPD's South Traffic Division Investigator Martin at (323) 421-2500 or (877) LAPD-24-7 during non-business hours.
