Coroner's officials said Wednesday they have been unable to identify a man killed last month when he was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Hawthorne.

The man had just exited an MTA bus at the stop on Crenshaw Boulevard below the Century (105) Freeway. The man began to cross Crenshaw Boulevard when he was hit, Chief Coroner Investigator Craig Harvey said.

The vehicle left the scene without stopping. The victim carried no wallet or identification.
The victim was described as Latino, at least 45 years old, about 5 feet tall, 148 pounds. He had brown eyes, black hair and a mustache.

He wore a medium black shirt and a medium blue shirt, blue jeans with a 34 waist size and 32 length. He wore size 7EE black shoes, gray socks and a brown leather belt. He wore a brown brown baseball cap with the letters "LV" on the front and on the bill of the cap.

He wore a black Casio watch and yellow metal-rimmed eyeglasses.

Officials asked anyone with information about the man to contact Investigator Daniel Machian in the County Coroner Identifications Unit at 323-343-0754 or the Coroner Investigations Division's 24-hour number, 323-343-0714.
