About Jason Kandel

I've been a reporter at the Los Angeles Daily News since 1999, covering crime, courts and local city government. I'm the paper's online reporter, starting my day at 5:30 a.m. Armed with a Thermos of coffee, l post stories to It's a Crime in the wee hours of the morning and through the day. I welcome your tips, observations and insight into the seedy underbelly of L.A. crime.

Hi Jason I Like your story on this kidnapping in glendale person that might get life in prison as a honest reporter that u are. When are you going so start investigating Glendale Police Department you'll have a good story there lots of corrupted cops there you should spend more time on I bet there lots of people out there that agree with me.. You'll have a good story there.... Thank you take care....

I heard a report on one of the news radio station's
over the weekend, that a relative of a female inmate at the Calif. Institute For women in Corona, observed several male guards standing around a TV monitor, observing a female inmate being stripped searched. There's investigation presently going on, according to this report by the Dept.of Corrections. I haven't heard anything more about this story or seen another story on any other media outlets. It seems like this story was killed suddenly. Does anyone at the Daily-News know anything about it?
