GLENDALE - Police have arrested two men who allegedly shot at an occupied vehicle in Brand Park last week.No one was injured in the June 26 shooting. Harutyun Abrahamyan, 21, of Pasadena, and Haroutioun Aivazian, 19, of Glendale were arrested Thursday on suspicion of attempted murder, police spokesman John Balian said today.
Authorities said the two men were inside a white sport utility vehicle from which a gunman fired five shots at the park. Three shots struck a vehicle occupied by two women.
Their intended target was apparently a group of men they had confronted earlier, but the vehicle got in the way, Balian said.
Investigators arrested the duo after recovering the SUV believed to be used in the shooting, along with a handgun. Since the incident, police have added extra patrols at the park.
"Our detectives have been working around the clock to apprehend those responsible for this crime," Glendale Police Chief Randy G. Adams said. "These acts and those committed by others that take the peace and tranquility out of our neighborhoods will never be tolerated."
