Copper wire thieves hit L.A.

A dim view of the situation today on street light copper wire thefts: The city is now going to crack down on copper wire thieves after someone or a group of people stripped street lights of the metal. In the last four months, thieves have taken 370,000 feet of copper wiring from the city's network of street lights. The wiring has a street value of $200,000, and it costs the city $1 million to replace. It would almost be comical, if taxpayers didn't have to foot the bill.
