Here are a couple of incidents from over the weekend, including a homicide:


  • An assault with a deadly weapon and shots fired call was reported Friday at 7:05 p.m. at Victory Boulevard and Columbus Avenue in Van Nuys. On arrival, police found a victim down with a single gunshot wound to the foot. The victim was walking east on Victory when he turned north on Columbus. A vehicle pulled up, asked where he was from - the victim did not answer - then the passenger window rolled down and he saw a gun come out the window. He immediately ducked and heard numerous gunshots; he felt pain to his foot. He then fled to Valley Presbyterian Hospital across the street.

  • A homicide was reported at Sunday at 7:45 p.m. in the 10100 block of Samoa Avenue in Tujunga. Officers responded to a call for an assault with a deadly weapon/shots fired. On arrival, the officers observed the victim down at the scene and unresponsive. He was dead at the scene. Witnesses were located and stated that the victim was standing on the sidewalk when a vehicle pulled up to the victim and a heated discussion took place.
