A couple of noteworthy crimes from the San Fernando Valley in the last couple of days:

  • A robbery was reported on New Year's Day at 5:30 p.m. in the 14400 block of Magnolia Boulevard in Sherman Oaks. Two suspects entered the location, grabbed a 12-pack of beer and ran out with the merchandise. The store clerk ran after the suspects. One suspect hit the store clerk in the chest with the beer, then armed himself with a knife and attempted to stab the store clerk. The clerk then ran back to the store and the suspects took off.

  • An attempted murder was reported on New Year's Eve at 11:50 p.m. in the 13000 block of Eustace Street in Pacoima. Officers responded to a radio call of an ambulance shooting. On arrival, they discovered a male Hispanic down with an apparent gunshot wound to the abdomen at the scene of a party. The victim was taken to a local hospital in grave condition. Trauma surgeons advised that the victim probably would not survive his injuries and said the injuries appeared to be stab wounds.
