With only 13 days until the election, one voter segment has spoken -- the kids. Nickelodeon, the children's network, announced on Monday that out of the nearly 2.3 million votes cast online -- the most cast ever in the network's Kids Pick the President National Poll -- Sen. Barack Obama edged out Sen. John McCain 51percent to 49 percent.
The actual tally was 1,167,087 for Obama the Democratic candidate and 1,129,945 for his Republican rival. And while this is an unscientific poll, the kids' poll has been right in four out of the last five U.S. presidential elections.
"Nickelodeon has a long history of empowering kids and providing them with an opportunity to voice their opinions," said Cyma Zarghami, president of Nickelodeon Kids and Family Group.
"The Kids Pick the President campaign has introduced them to the voting process and hopefully will make them want to be active participants when they are old enough to vote."
