Party until you drop (something big)

You know how New York City drops a ball to mark New Year’s, right? And you may know that the past couple of years, Orange County has dropped a giant orange ball.

We don’t have a Times Square, true. But we could drop something in Chaffey Town Square at Victoria Gardens, as good a focal point as any.

But what should we drop? Any ideas, readers?

How about a giant ball of coupons/giveaways for the shops in the Gardens?

[Great idea! Thanks, Shelli. -- DA]

If that isn’t an invitation for rudeness, I don’t know what is!

A large chunk of blue ice?

[Another excellent suggestion! I've covered a couple of blue ice incidents over the years. -- DA]

If yours were a political column the choice would be obvious. (At least to me!)
But since our interests here lie in the goings-on in the IE, I suggest we drop a huge bunch of lighted grapes to symbolize what the IE was once known for. The grapes should be dropped into a barrel for stomping, of course.

Have a safe and sane New Year’s Eve. Feel free to join me for an extra Diet Pepsi (caffeine free, of course) and honey roasted mixed nuts. Wheeee!

    All the best for 2008,

    Ramona

Maybe they could drop Dorothy’s house, because Victoria Gardens definitely isn’t in Kansas. They would just have to sweep the area for witches first.

    Happy New Year!
