Redevelopment strikes blog
How about this blog's snazzy new appearance?
Much more lively, I'd say. Needless to say I had nothing to do with it, other than asking that the search function be made functional, which it now is.
The look is a pleasant surprise. And gosh, we even have advertising. Must be the same ads on all the blogs or something, though. If it were just for my blog, you'd think Vince's Spaghetti or Donahoo's Chicken would be sponsoring me.
Any comments on the new look?

Is it a sign of aging that I don't adapt well to changes in familiar day-to-day stuff?
Yesterday I discovered that one of my favorite on-line games was gone and replaced with a wonky "so much better version."
Today I come to visit you and your blog page is totally revamped.
I guess I'll just have to eat some chocolate to help me compensate.
Not to worry. It looks great (except for the ads) and I will adjust. They tell me that's what adults do.

David....overall the "new" you is very vibrant...projects your personality well...agree about the advertising not being in your style...do we need the headlines on the right?...think it a bit obtrusive...just my .02 cents.
[I don't think the headlines fit the blog either but it may be out of our hands. I'll mention it to the online crew. Meanwhile, congratulations on leaving the 700th comment since this blog began! -- DA]
Thank You...Thank You Very Much !!! An honor to be the 700th !
David, does this mean you can post photos now? I'd love to see that. Or maybe a graphic of some sort (that isn't advertising).
I like the new look, and I can handle the advertising up top and on the right side, but I'm also getting popups which are really annoying. Perhaps the sysop can block the popups?
[Don't know anything about the popups and am not seeing any myself. As for photos, my work computer remains unable to deal with photos. I do have a photo I'd like to post soon and may have to try doing it from home. -- DA]
i think a picture of the goddess of pomona would be great, but other than that looks great dave
Since I only read the blog and not the e-version of the DB (I still prefer the hard copy on my Metrolink commute), I ignore the headlines section...I generally like the layout...HOWEVER, I noticed that the "Recent Comments" section on the margin breaks at some odd places (does not appear to maintain any consistency) and I'm waiting to see if it breaks at some ironic, sardonic or politically incorrect location.
[Incidentally, this morning's headlines section has a pleasant surprise, as my Wednesday column is the most-viewed story on our website! -- DA]
I for one think it has an effervescent quality that is altogether more appealing. I will visit more often and leave many more notes like this one!
I definitely like the new look, and I'm fine with the ads (you're giving me the content for free, after all)!
But there's no link to the paper's front page! And when you mention a column (such as the Gold line blog item), could you link to it? I'm interested in reading what you wrote, but not looking forward to the work needed to find it.
I thought the headlines would be useful to get to the paper, but the first one I tried took me to a story in the SB Sun. I know it's all part of the same company, but how do I get from your blog (which I read all the time) to the paper's home page (which I rarely visit)?
But that's my only quibble with a much more appealing look to the blog.
[I meant to go back and add a link to Wednesday's column once it posted but forgot. I've now done so. The comment on there being no link to the DB home page is a good one and will be passed along, as will those of others. -- DA]
I need my sunglasses!!!
I'm sure this will be better once I get used to it
Hey David.
I like the new look except all of the blog postings after this one are center-justified (rather than left-justified).
The librarian in me needs to see order!
(And happy 6 months!)

[The center-justified thing is among the items on my list. Our online staff is stretched tighter than a drum head but perhaps we can solve a few of these small glitches. -- DA]
Hey David,
I like the new looks of your blog, give a pat on the back for your web staff for me. The only complaint I have with it is, the links around your entire page here. Gray links mixed with black print makes it rather difficult to find them. It would be wonderful if they were say, a bold blue or green. How about it?
[I'll add that to the list of suggestions. -- DA]
