Sunday column preview

| | Comments (4) |

In 2008 I ate at a grand total of 100 new-to-me restaurants in the Inland Valley, a personal best, and one I have no intention of trying to top.

Sunday's column gives a nod to as many of the good ones as I could squeeze in, including a few that never made it as a "Restaurant of the Week," the inevitable byproduct of averaging two restaurants per week.

For anyone new to the blog who reads Sunday's column and shows up here, welcome. To find accounts of any particular restaurant, type its name into the search function. If it doesn't turn up, that means it's one of the ones I never got around to writing about.

You can also click on the category "Inland Valley Eatin'" to find every piece all at once. Bon appetit!

I did find the Pho Vi restaurant in your "Pomona A-Z" series...but not an official review.

Maybe one in the future?

[Definitely one in the future. -- DA]

Hey Dave, I left a comment on the column online...but that Athen's Gyro House is that the one that was next to Stater Brothers in Upland? I know there was a Greek restaraunt right there and now it is closed. I also left you some suggestions for places I don't know if you have eaten at or not...Chino Burgers, Flo's at Chino Airport, Andy's Burgers in Chino and Dr. Grubbs in Claremont.

[Too bad about Athen's (even though the misspelling bugged me!). Of your suggestions, I've been to Flo's and Grubb's, and to Andy's Burgers in Ontario, which is presumably connected to the one in Chino. Haven't reviewed any of them but did write a column in '07 about the Flo's bake shop. But I have never been to or heard of Chino Burgers and will add that to the list. -- DA]

If you travel down Riverside Drive in Chino, you'll find quite a few "burger" joints. Chino Burgers and Ranch Burgers are very close together, Super Burger is just down the street, Andy's Burgers is on the other side of town and I'm sure I'm missing at least a couple other burger places closer to East End (on the west side of town).

Andy's Burgers is in a former A&W location.

[Euclid Avenue has its lovely median, Riverside Drive has its burger joints... Thanks, Scott. Chino is unexplored territory for me. -- DA]

There is something to see below the 60 Freeway besides Flo's!
